
Why Most Industrial Heaters Die in Wet Zones (And How We Fixed It)
If you’ve ever put a standard infrared heater in a wash-down area or a humid plant, you know the drill. They don’t last. One bad splash or a few weeks of heavy fog, and you’re dealing with short circuits or heating elements that just rust away. It’s frustrating, and it’s expensive. We got tired of seeing units burn out, so we built our IP65 heaters to actually survive the mess.
What “IP65” Actually Means for You
You’ll see the technical specs, but here is the real-world version: the “6” means dust can’t get in. Period. The “5” means you can hit the thing with water jets from any angle and it won’t flinch. We make this happen with high-temp silicone gaskets and sealed cable glands. Basically, we’ve locked the electrical guts in a vault. When water hits the chassis, it just slides right off. It doesn’t pool, it doesn’t seep, and it definitely doesn’t touch the wiring.
The Stealth Killer: Fog
Here is the thing about fog—it’s a silent killer. When a heater clicks off, it cools down. Moisture in the air clings to that cool surface. Then, the second the unit kicks back on, that water flashes into steam. That sudden “thermal shock” can crack your quartz tubes or eat through the reflector. To stop that, we use hydrophobic coatings and a smarter airflow design. It keeps the heating surface dry so the lamp doesn’t shatter the first time it cycles on.
A Quick Heads-Up on Heat
There is a trade-off when you seal something this tight. Since we’ve locked the internals to keep the water out, the heat can’t escape as easily as it does in an open-frame heater. It gets hot in there. Just make sure your mounting brackets aren’t blocking the heat sinks. If you choke the airflow, you’ll trip the thermal cutoff during a heavy load, and nobody wants to deal with a shutdown in the middle of a shift. We built these for the places where a normal heater would be dead in six months. By blocking out the splashes and the steam, you stop the rust cycle and stop replacing your gear every other quarter.
