We built this decorative space heater around a 400V halogen infrared lamp. The goal? Serious heat, packed into a small footprint. The 300mm tube focuses all that warmth into one precise spot, and the 2500W rating means it gets hot fast. Running on 400V is a smart move, too. It pulls less current than lower-voltage options, so you can use thinner wiring and not worry about voltage dropping off over distance. But here’s the trade-off: all that concentrated heat needs proper cooling and shielding inside the enclosure. Otherwise, you risk things overheating.
Material & Design: Halogen, Coating, and Connectors
At the heart of it is a quartz tube, filled with halogen gas. That keeps the filament stable, even at scorching temperatures, and stops it from blackening over time. We also added a reflective coating on the inside. It bounces more infrared energy forward, so you get directional heating that doesn’t waste a single watt. For the connections, we went with R7s connectors. They’re built to handle high heat and the constant start-stop cycling without failing. And if you need a quick swap, the Sk15 base fits right into standard industrial sockets. No fuss.
